Home at 9 Grant Place in Pantego

t approximately 4:20 p.m. on April 5, 2023, Tarrant County Sheriff’s deputies and Pantego Police officers arrived at a home along Grant Place in Pantego, TX to execute a warrant. As they attempted to make contact with a person inside the home, that individual displayed a firearm. A short time later, a deputy fired their service weapon. It is not believed that anyone was struck. The individual then retreated back inside the home and the officers and deputies pulled back.

The Arlington Police Department evacuated most residents in the block and the others were asked to shelter in place. Fire and EMS crews are on standby.

Grand Prairie PD’s SWAT team was called in to assist Arlington PD SWAT. At around 8:3 0am, the suspect was observed exiting the residence to smoke a cigarette on the back porch. SWAT officers advised she had the gun laying on a table next to her. As she was outside of the residence, SWAT officers moved in with less lethal rounds and took her into custody.

Police say the woman was 72-years-old Janet Sodd.   Tarrant County Appraisal records shows that Janet Sodd is the owner at 9 Grant Place in Pantego, Texas.

The warrant for Sodd was issued out of Tarrant County, but the details are not known at this time.

Pantego police said they had been called to the residence previously.
