Irving City Council has approved the capital improvement plan for the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas and an additional $1.6 million for Las Colinas entertainment center developer Las Colinas Group.
The Las Colinas Group plans to build a 5,200 seat (7,000 person capacity) live music and entertainment venue, and also a vibrant plaza with 11 restaurants and public spaces that can accommodate festivals similar to Jazz Fest in New Orleans, or the CMA Fest in Nashville.
The Irving Entertainment Center at Las Colinas will generate approximately 1,600 jobs and 3.5 to 4.0 million visitors per year. The project is expected to be completed in 2012.
