UPDATE: On June 22, 2023, Shelby Jackson, 33, turned himself in to the Dallas Police Department for this offense. Jackson was taken to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with Murder.
In a tragic incident that unfolded on June 20, 2023, at approximately 9:20 PM, the Dallas Police Department swiftly responded to a shooting call in the 2500 block of Perryton Drive. The incident resulted in the death of 40-year-old Geoffrey Jones after an altercation turned violent.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by law enforcement authorities, a heated argument broke out between a male suspect and the victim, Geoffrey Jones. As the argument escalated, the suspect drew a firearm and fired at Jones, inflicting critical injuries. The suspect promptly fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.
Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the location, and Geoffrey Jones was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Jones succumbed to his injuries, tragically losing his life.
This remains an ongoing investigation that will be documented under case number 112774–2023.
