A tragic car-pedestrian collision took place in the early hours of July 2, 2023, prompting an investigation by the Dallas Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 am on S. Buckner Blvd. near Hume Drive in the 2700 block, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.
According to preliminary findings, a 21-year-old driver was traveling northbound along S. Buckner Blvd. when the collision transpired. The pedestrian, identified as an adult male, was crossing the busy boulevard outside a designated crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle. The impact was severe, and the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Tragically, the chain of events continued to unfold as the vehicle involved in the collision veered across the median and careened into the southbound lanes. Its reckless trajectory led to the striking of a wooden light pole located at the intersection of Blossom Lane.
In light of the circumstances surrounding the incident, the driver has been arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Authorities are currently considering additional charges in connection with the deadly crash.
