On July 2, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Dallas Police responded to a shooting incident that occurred in the 8000 block of Rothington Road near Skyline High School. According to the preliminary investigation, a seven-year-old boy, identified as Kyrie Barnes, was shot while he was in bed. Detectives have determined that the gunfire originated from outside the home. The young boy was immediately transported to a nearby local hospital in critical condition. Fortunately, no other individuals present inside the apartment sustained any injuries.
Tragically, on July 6, 2023, Kyrie Barnes succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
In an effort to assist the investigation, Kyrie's family has released his photograph and granted permission for his name to be used publicly. They hope that by doing so, anyone who possesses information regarding this case will come forward and contact the Dallas Police Department.
