On July 19, 2023, Dallas Police made a significant breakthrough in their investigation into a series of homicides that had deeply unsettled the Southwest Dallas community. Oscar Sanchez Garcia, a 25-year-old Hispanic illegal alien, was apprehended by authorities in connection to three separate murder cases in the area.
The investigation began on April 22, 2023, with the discovery of the lifeless body of 60-year-old Kimberly Robinson in the 200 block of Sante Fe Avenue. She was found by a passerby near the Trinity River, her body nude from the waist down and bearing stab wounds. Just two months later, on June 24, 2023, the body of 25-year-old Cherish Gibson was found deceased in the same vicinity. Gibson, who had ties to prostitution, was also discovered partially nude and stabbed. Her last known whereabouts had been near an adult bookstore on Harry Hines Boulevard.
On July 15, 2023, the situation escalated when Dallas Police found 31-year-old DeBrenese Henry's lifeless body in the 800 block of Brazos Street. Like the other victims, she was found not clothed from the waist down and had been stabbed. Henry also had connections to the sex work industry.
Detectives made significant headway during the preliminary investigation, using phone records, video footage, and data obtained from a license plate reader to link Oscar Sanchez Garcia to the three homicide cases. The evidence allegedly placed his vehicle and phone locations in the areas where the victims were last known to be alive.
The arrest of Sanchez Garcia also came after a crucial social media post that discussed a possible serial killer targeting prostitutes, which helped authorities connect the dots between the three cases.
As a result of the mounting evidence against Sanchez Garcia, he has been charged with three counts of Murder, with a bond amount set at $6 million. The suspect's immigration status has also drawn attention, prompting discussions about illegal immigration and its implications in criminal cases.
