Speeding Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Young Driver's Life in Arlington

In the early hours of Sunday, August 20, 2023, a devastating single-vehicle accident unfolded on Calender Road in Arlington. At around 1:12 a.m., emergency services from the Arlington Police Department rushed to the scene, responding to reports of a wreck in the 7600 block of the road.

Preliminary investigations by authorities suggest that the crash involved a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. The driver,  whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, is believed to have been traveling at an exceptionally high rate of speed as he navigated a curve on Calender Road. The excessive speed caused the vehicle to veer off the road, collide with a fire hydrant, and subsequently roll multiple times before coming to a rest in a nearby ditch.

The driver, a 28-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Toyota Tacoma was the sole vehicle involved in the incident, and there were no passengers or pedestrians harmed.
