An unsettling incident unfolded at Denton High School on August 22, 2023, when a student was taken into custody for allegedly threatening to shoot a fellow classmate.
Around 8:43 a.m., a school resource officer received information concerning a confrontation involving two male students. Allegedly, during this altercation, one of the students made a verbal threat indicating an intention to use a firearm against the other student. However, the student did not have possession of a firearm during the incident, according to the official report.
Responding swiftly, the school resource officer took the student into custody on suspicion of a threat involving the exhibition or use of a firearm within a school environment. Subsequently, the student was transported to the Denton County Juvenile Detention Center.
