On the evening of September 7, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Dallas Police officers responded to a call for service while traveling eastbound in the 3300 block of Tom Braniff. What followed was a dramatic incident involving a suspect, identified as 28-year-old Demetrius Graham-Harris, who engaged in reckless behavior, ultimately leading to his arrest.
According to preliminary investigations, Graham-Harris was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Tom Braniff when he attempted to pass a marked police squad car. However, he abruptly applied his brakes to avoid colliding with another vehicle. In doing so, Graham-Harris's vehicle collided with the rear of the marked squad car.
Rather than stopping, the suspect fled the scene, prompting officers to initiate pursuit. Graham-Harris drove recklessly in the direction of Love Field Airport, where he attempted to breach a security gate leading to the airport's restricted area.
In a desperate attempt to evade capture, Graham-Harris abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. However, law enforcement officers intervened, deploying a Taser to subdue him and bring him into custody before he could gain access to the airport property.
Following his arrest, Graham-Harris was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. He now faces multiple charges, including three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer for his actions during the incident. Additionally, it has been revealed that Graham-Harris was wanted on a felony family violence warrant out of Dallas County.
No officers were injured in the incident.
The case will be documented under number 161745-2023.
