Shooting Incident on Dallas' I-35E Leaves One Dead and Woman in Critical Condition

On September 16, 2023, at approximately 8:25 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting incident in the 2600 block of N. Stemmons Freeway (southbound), near the Medical District on Inwood. The preliminary investigation revealed that officers arrived at the scene to discover a male victim shot inside a stalled vehicle in the left lane of traffic, and a female victim with gunshot wounds on the shoulder of the freeway.

Both victims were swiftly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Tragically, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, while the female victim remains in critical condition.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, authorities temporarily closed down I-35E to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this time, it remains unclear whether this shooting was the result of a road rage incident or if the victims were specifically targeted.

The investigation is ongoing and will be documented on case numbers 167214-2023 and 167308-2023.

The man’s identity is not being released pending family notification.
