On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at approximately 6:35 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a call in the 3200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near the Fair Park Grounds. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 911 caller reported 28-year-old Mark Beechum's presence at the location and his intention to turn himself in for a murder. Responding officers promptly arrived at the scene and took Mark Beechum into custody without incident.
Subsequently, officers were dispatched to a home in the 500 block of W. Saner Avenue in East Oak Cliff, where they discovered 75-year-old Leamon Beechum on the floor of a residence. An initial investigation revealed that an argument between the suspect, Mark Beechum, and the victim, Leamon Beechum, had escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the death of Leamon Beechum at the scene.
Mark Beechum has been charged with Murder and has been transported to the Dallas County Jail.
