SMU Student Killed After Drunk Driver Runs Red Light and Crashes Into Her

Honor Elizabeth Wallace and Drunk Driver Lynlee Pollis

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a devastating crash that occurred over the weekend, resulting in the tragic loss of a 19-year-old SMU student's life.

On Sunday, September 24th, at approximately 4:20 pm, a 19-year-old driver and her friend were traveling eastbound on Monticello Avenue. As they proceeded through the intersection at Central Expressway, a woman driving northbound on the service road failed to stop at the red light, resulting in a catastrophic collision between the two vehicles.

All three women involved in the crash were transported to Dallas hospitals to receive medical treatment for their injuries. Unfortunately, the 19-year-old driver did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased. Her passenger was listed in stable condition and is receiving ongoing medical care.  The victim has been identified as Honor Elizabeth Wallace of Grosse Point, Michigan.  According to a statement by SMU, Wallace was in her sophomore year.

The driver responsible for running the red light and causing the collision has been identified as 27-year-old Lynlee Pollis. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Pollis said she has only one margarita, but was on ADHD medication.  

As a result of her actions, Dallas police have charged her with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault.
