On Thursday, December 9, Whataburger celebrated the opening of their newly-relocated restaurant at 2515 W. Airport Freeway (just west of Story Road) in Irving with a ribbon cutting celebration.
The new location replaces the restaurant which was formerly located at Wingren and Airport Freeway which was purchased by TxDOT for the widening of State Highway 183 through Irving.
In addition to Whataburger personnel, city officials, and chamber staff and ambassadors, a very special guest was in attendance. Lynne Dobson, who is co-owner of the restaurant chain and daughter of founder Harmon Dobson, shared with all in attendance the restaurant's long history which began in 1950 in Corpus Christi. Other highlights included a check presentation from Whataburger to Irving Cares, a ceremonial raising of the American Flag by a local troop of Boy Scouts and the providing of samples of the latest Whataburger menu offerings including the new 5-3-1 burger.
