Shooting Incident in South Dallas Turns Fatal, Charges Upgraded to Murder

On October 16, 2023, at approximately 8:30 am, Dallas Police responded to a shooting in the 2300 block of Pine Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Fredrick Grant had been shot outside a residence. Grant was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Further investigations led the authorities to identify the alleged shooter as 55-year-old Joseph Jackson. Police located and apprehended Jackson, subsequently charging him with Aggravated Assault.

On October 18, 2023, the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office notified the DPD Homicide Unit that Fredrick Grant had succumbed to his injuries, passing away on October 17.

In light of Grant's tragic death, the Aggravated Assault charge against Joseph Jackson has been upgraded to Murder. Jackson remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail. His bond has been set at $1 million.
