The Denton Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the night of Monday, October 23, 2023, leaving one person dead.
At precisely 9:59 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex located in the 1600 block of E. McKinney Street, Denton, TX. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Officers initiated life-saving procedures until paramedics arrived at the scene. The male suspect, who remained at the location, was detained by authorities and is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old Daniel Ryan of Denton, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the victim's identity.
At this time, investigators do not believe there was any prior connection between the victim and the suspect.
