On October 25, 2023, at approximately 7:20 a.m., the Dallas Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 1600 block of Murdock Road in southeast Dallas, near the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 35-year-old woman, identified as Dishaye Stevenson, with gunshot wounds on the side of the road. Ms. Stevenson succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Preliminary investigations led the police to identify the suspect as 39-year-old Michael Smith. Law enforcement officers successfully located and apprehended Mr. Smith, subsequently charging him with Murder. He is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing and is documented under case number 190527-2023.
