The Arlington Police Department is seeking tips from the public to locate the suspect in two recent shooting incidents.
Detectives have obtained warrants for the arrest of 29-year-old Kelechi Ezugwu on two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Investigators believe on the evening of September 27, 2023, Mr. Ezugwu pulled into a store parking lot in the 1100 block of W. Arbrook Boulevard, exited his vehicle, and approached another person who had just gotten into their car. The victim told officers he drove away as soon as he saw Mr. Ezugwu walking towards him – and as he was exiting the parking lot, he heard gunshots. The victim was not injured. His car was struck by the gunfire.
Investigators believe Mr. Ezugwu is also responsible for an incident that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, October 25, 2023 outside of a gym in the 900 block of W. Arbrook Boulevard. The victim told officers he had stopped at the gym on his way to work and was checking emails in his car when a man, believed to be Mr. Ezugwu, approached him holding a gun. As the victim drove away, Mr. Ezugwu fired multiple shots in his direction, striking his vehicle. The victim was not injured.
Both shootings appear to be random. Neither victim knew Mr. Ezugwu or has any connection to him. Detectives believe Mr. Ezugwu may suffer from mental health issues.
He is believed to be driving a white 2012 Honda Civic with Texas LP: RZF-3191.
The department is actively searching for him.
If you see him, DO NOT approach him. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding his location is urged to call 911.
UPDATE:
Not long after we shared the initial post, Arlington Police received a credible lead about Mr. Ezugwu's location.
Officers then responded to a business in the 3700 block of S. Cooper Street where they found him and took him into custody without incident.
Mr. Ezugwu will be booked into the Arlington City Jail on the two warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
