A road rage shooting suspect is in custody thanks to the actions of the Fort Worth Police Department.
On October 22, 2023, 22-year-old David Mora was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection with a road rage shooting incident the same day.
The shooting occurred around 5:27 p.m. near the intersection of Sycamore School Road and Hemphill Street. According to police, the victim honked their horn at Mora after his blue Nissan swerved dangerously close to their vehicle while driving west on Sycamore School Road. Mora then allegedly opened fire on the victim's car, striking both the victim and their vehicle several times before fleeing the scene.
The victim survived their injuries. Patrol officers were quickly able to locate Mora's vehicle and apprehend him thanks to the coordination efforts of the Fort Worth Police Department's Gun Violence Unit, Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), and patrol officers. The RTCC's network of cameras around Fort Worth allowed police to pinpoint the location of Mora's car using its license plate number provided by the victim.
In addition to the aggravated assault charges, Mora was found to have an outstanding warrant for evading arrest at the time of his capture. He was transferred to the Tarrant County Jail following his arrest.
