Golfer Sets Guinness World Record in Las Colinas

Sixty-four year old Richard Lewis broke into the Guinness World Book of Records for the most rounds of golf played in a single year.

The Four Seasons Resort and Club in Las Colinas that, as of December 19th, Lewis had played 587 rounds.  The most incredible fact is that Lewis walked and carried his bag for every single round.   All rounds where played at either TPC at the Four Seasons Resort or Cottonwood Valley in Irving.

Lewis is not finished for the year.  He played his 600th round of golf on a frigid Sunday, December 26th.

Several supporters paid more than $5000 to play with him in this record round and have donated money in Lewis' honor to support The First Tee of Dallas, a national non-profit that teaches youth the importance of personal character and social responsibility through the game of golf.

“People put up a lot of money to play the 600th with me so I couldn’t let the First Tee down,” Lewis said. Members donated some $9,000 to the organization.

Paul Earnest, Four Seasons Director of Golf, says what amazes him about Lewis is his passion for the game. “He’s always trying to improve his game,” he said. “He’ll hit every shot and then go to the range and practice on something.”

Lewis plans to continue until he plays his final round, likely his 611th, of the year on Friday, December 31.
