Three Arrested in Connection with Arlington Shooting Death

Brenton Smith, Jaka Livingston and Ahmed Osman

The Arlington Police Department has announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with the shooting death of 26-year-old Jared Jackson on November 12, 2023.

APD homicide detectives, after a comprehensive investigation, secured warrants for the arrest of 23-year-old Brenton Smith, 17-year-old Jaka Livingston, and 19-year-old Ahmed Osman, all facing charges of Capital Murder.

The U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force successfully located and apprehended the suspects. Following their arrests, the individuals were booked into the Arlington City Jail on the issued warrants. Subsequently, they were transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, where they remain in custody.

Detectives believe that a dispute between Mr. Smith and Mr. Jackson over drugs and/or money led to the fatal shooting. Allegedly, Mr. Smith, accompanied by Mr. Livingston and Mr. Osman, entered Mr. Jackson's apartment in the 1000 block of W. Arkansas Lane, resulting in the shooting.
