At 10:15 pm last night, the Fort Worth Fire Department (FWFD) rushed to the scene of a residential structure fire in the 5600 block of Donnelly Avenue in the Como neighborhood of West Fort Worth. The emergency call, made by one of the trapped occupants, reported being trapped due to burglar bars and intense flames.

Upon arrival, Engine 16 quickly took action, forcibly entering the home. Firefighters successfully rescued both individuals who were found unconscious inside. Immediate life-saving measures were administered, and CareFlite helicopters were summoned to transport the victims to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The FWFD reminds the community to prioritize fire safety. Residents are urged to regularly check and maintain smoke alarm batteries, ensuring their proper functionality. Additionally, practicing fire escape plans with family members, having accessible fire extinguishers, and adopting safety habits, such as sleeping with bedroom doors closed, are crucial precautions for all households.
