In a recent announcement by the National Association of Town Watch, Arlington secured the top position in the 2023 National Night Out Awards program. This accolade recognizes communities for their outstanding participation and engagement during the annual National Night Out event.

Arlington's achievement in 2023 marks its third win in the past four years (2020, 2021, 2023) for cities with a population exceeding 300,000. Notably, Arlington has consistently ranked in the Top 3 nationally since 2015.

This year, over 150 neighborhoods, organizations, and businesses in Arlington actively participated in National Night Out, emphasizing the community's commitment to fostering relationships between neighbors, community leaders, and local authorities. The event aims to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment that encourages lasting connections, ultimately contributing to the overall strength of the community.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Chief of Police Al Jones stated, “We’re incredibly honored to receive this recognition, and I hope our entire community takes pride in it because it truly is a reflection on them. The Arlington Police Department is an agency that wants to engage with its community, and Arlington is a community that wants to engage with its police department. This just further proves that."

The awards are based on several factors, including the overall quality of the event, community engagement, and law enforcement involvement. Chief Jones extended his appreciation to all Arlington Police Department employees who participated and to the community members who hosted and attended National Night Out parties.
