In an incident at the Parks Mall on Thursday, December 28, 2023, the Arlington Police Department has made multiple arrests.
19-year-old Damius Lindon and 19-year-old Jaccques Jacques were both booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Fighting in Public each.
17-year-old Careco Harris faces a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and 18-year-old Kaiden Jackson has been booked on two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The altercation began as a verbal dispute between Mr. Lindon, Mr. Jacques, and Mr. Harris against Mr. Jackson and his associates, reportedly over an interaction with someone's girlfriend. The situation escalated as the two groups descended the mall's escalator near the ice rink, turning physical.
During the fight, investigators believe Mr. Harris brandished a handgun, pointing it at the opposing group before striking one individual with it, although no shots were fired. The gun was later dropped during the altercation, picked up by Mr. Jackson, who then allegedly fired it, hitting Mr. Harris in the arm and unintentionally striking a 38-year-old bystander in the leg.
Both the injured woman and Mr. Harris were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Harris will be booked into the Tarrant County Jail once medically cleared.
Mr. Lindon and Mr. Jacques were apprehended near a mall exit, based on witness accounts and surveillance footage. Mr. Jackson, who had left the scene, was located at his parents' residence in Mansfield without incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be pending as detectives continue their inquiries.
