The Coppell Police Department has reported 12 incidents of Burglary of Motor Vehicles (BMV) in the city for the month of December 2023.

Out of the 4 cases involving a broken window, one was identified as a "jugging" incident, where the victim was followed from a bank after making a withdrawal. Additionally, two of these four cases had valuable items in plain view.
Among the 6 incidents where vehicles were left unlocked, two resulted in the theft of firearms.
In one of the 2 cases where vehicles were pried, it is suspected that the attempt was abandoned before the vehicle could be stolen.
The Coppell Police Department urges residents to prioritize community safety by adopting the "LOCK, TAKE, HIDE" approach to prevent further incidents.
