Police Arrest Suspect Linked to String of Crimes in Colleyville

On Friday, January 5, 2024, Colleyville Police executed an arrest warrant and a search warrant at a residence on Bridlewood Court, uncovering a group of individuals described as "squatters." The warrants were secured following an investigation by Colleyville Detectives linking one inhabitant and their associates to various crimes in the area, including a stolen vehicle, multiple vehicle burglaries, and credit/debit card abuse.

Colleyville Police arrested one individual involved in the criminal activities, charging them with Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse, a State Jail Felony, related to previous thefts in Colleyville. In addition to the arrest, an overdue U-Haul rental truck was recovered at the residence and promptly returned to the rental company. The arrested individual cooperated with law enforcement, while Colleyville Detectives continue to probe into other potentially involved parties.

The crimes in question were identified as crimes of opportunity, prompting authorities to remind the public about the importance of securing personal property. Regardless of whether a vehicle is parked at home, even behind a locked gate, residents are advised to follow basic safety measures:

  • Hide Your Belongings
  • Lock Your Vehicle
  • Take Your Keys (or Fob)

Commending the individual who tipped off the police about the "squatters" on Bridlewood Court, law enforcement highlighted the crucial role community members play in crime prevention. The information provided enabled officers and detectives to identify suspects wanted for crimes in the area. Tarrant County Constables were also involved, initiating an official eviction process.

The investigation remains ongoing, with Colleyville Police assuring the public that more information will be released at a later time. Authorities emphasized the significance of the community's vigilance, urging residents to report any suspicious activities with the familiar mantra: "If you See Something, Say Something!"
