Suspect Identified in Shooting Death of Teen in South Dallas

On January 7, 2024, at approximately 10:40 AM, Dallas Police officers responded to a shooting call in the 700 block of Grambling Drive near UNT Dallas. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, 17-year-old Ikea Imari Hood, had been shot by a suspect who subsequently fled the scene.

Upon arrival, Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) attended to Hood who succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation led authorities to identify 17-year-old Trevon Darnell Wright as the suspect in the case. An arrest warrant for Murder has been issued for Wright as the investigation continues.

UPDATE: On January 9, 2024, 17-year-old Trevon Darnell Wright was arrested for the homicide in the 700 block of Grambling Drive.

Wright was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and taken to the Dallas County Jail.
