Grapevine Police responded to a series of weather-related accidents today, with a total of 10 incidents reported. The most significant cluster occurred shortly after 10:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of N SH-121 southbound, leading to SH-114 westbound, specifically at the flyover. These collisions involved 10 vehicles, including a Grapevine Fire engine that was on the scene to assist with wrecks.
Fortunately, no police or fire personnel sustained injuries in the accidents. However, one individual involved in the crashes was transported to the hospital with injuries that are deemed non-life-threatening. The affected stretch of the highway was closed for just under three hours, reopening only after TxDOT crews treated the bridge for ice.
Grapevine Police noted several instances of vehicles traveling at excessive speeds given the road conditions. In light of these incidents, they urge the public to exercise caution and reduce speeds, especially during the upcoming night and tomorrow. Motorists are advised to anticipate slick spots on elevated roadways, overpasses, and bridges. If travel is necessary, allow for extra time during your commute to ensure safety on the road.
