Officer-Involved Shooting in Killeen: Armed Suspect Wounded

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, at around 1:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Elms Road following reports of an armed subject. Initial findings suggest that the suspect was engaged in a disturbance and fled on foot towards Florence Road. The situation escalated, with the call being upgraded to shots fired prior to the officers' arrival.

Upon reaching the scene, the officers located the suspect and engaged him, resulting in the discharge of their firearms. The suspect was struck and subsequently transported to Baylor Scott & White hospital by ambulance. His current condition is reported as stable.

The involved officers, both with 12 years of experience, have been placed on administrative leave, adhering to protocol in such incidents.

The Texas Rangers have taken charge of the investigation, leading the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Simultaneously, the Killeen Police Department Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an internal investigation.
