Grapevine Police Arrest Suspect Following Assault and Foot Chase; Officer Fired Weapon at Vehicle

In a late-night incident on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, Grapevine Police arrested 23-year-old Keyvionte Henderson of Dallas after a series of events unfolded in the parking garage of the Jefferson Silverlake Apartments.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a call reporting a man attempting to break into multiple unattended vehicles. As officers confronted the suspect, he re-entered his car, attempting to flee. In the process, he collided with an occupied, marked patrol vehicle and a parked car, before driving directly towards two officers.

Fearing for their safety, one officer discharged their weapon to stop the imminent threat. The suspect's vehicle then crashed into a transformer, igniting a fire. Subsequently, the suspect fled on foot, leading officers on a chase towards Bass Pro Court.

Approximately 15 minutes later, Henderson was apprehended at Cowboys Golf Course. Following the arrest, he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and later transported to jail.

Keyvionte Henderson now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest/detention, evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, duty on striking an unattended vehicle, and accident involving damage to a vehicle.

The officer who discharged their weapon is currently on standard administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of a thorough investigation. The Texas Rangers have been called in to conduct an independent investigation into the case.
