During his tenure, North Richland Hills has seen significant growth, becoming a family-friendly community with a current population of over 70,000 residents. Mayor Trevino highlighted the city's achievements in managing growth and improving infrastructure.
Among the accomplishments Mayor Trevino takes pride in are the investments made in city infrastructure, parks, equipment, and staff. Over 20 parks and trails were built, along with enhancements to the Iron Horse Golf Course and NRH2O Family Water Park.
The Mayor emphasized the commitment to safety, having expanded and equipped the police and fire departments with top-notch training and tools. Balancing the development of new neighborhoods and commercial centers, the city also focused on maintaining and revitalizing its original neighborhoods.
Economic growth was a priority, attracting new businesses and investments in city streets, while ensuring fiscal responsibility. Mayor Trevino acknowledged the resilience of the community, weathering recessions and the recent pandemic, and highlighted a decrease in the retail vacancy rate to 6.3%, the lowest since 2004.
Expressing gratitude to residents, elected colleagues, and city staff, Mayor Trevino thanked them for their trust, service, and dedication. He acknowledged the importance of collaboration, even in times of disagreement, and credited the city's success to the professionalism and hard work of the city staff.
In a heartfelt closing, Mayor Trevino expressed deep appreciation to his family for their support and sacrifices. He concluded, "And most importantly, to my wife, Carol, my children and their spouses, and over the last 10 years, my granddaughter Reis: Thank you for your encouragement, your understanding and your sacrifices. I could not have done this without you. Thank you also for choosing to make your homes, start your families and be involved in this great City. I love you all. It has been the honor of my life to serve our community over the past 25 years."
