Richland High School faced a security concern today as school officials discovered a bomb threat via email, though authorities have deemed the threat not credible.
The North Richland Hills Police Department (NRHPD) was alerted to the threat shortly before 9:30 am. Detectives from NRHPD promptly initiated efforts to assess the situation and trace the origin of the threat. Preliminary findings, in collaboration with state and federal partners, indicate that the threat likely originated from a computer located in the United Kingdom.
Further investigations revealed that a school district in east Texas had also received a similar threat. In response, NRHPD has deployed additional units in and around the Richland High School campus as a precautionary measure.
Emphasizing the seriousness of such threats, NRHPD reiterated its commitment to ongoing collaboration with state and federal partners. The investigation remains active, and the police department is working closely with school officials to prioritize the safety of students and staff. Additional updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
