On January 2, 2024, Dallas Police Officers apprehended 22-year-old Kaila Thompson of Garland on charges of compelling prostitution by force, threat, coercion, fraud, and engaging in conduct/sexual trafficking. Another suspect associated with Thompson, 29-year-old Jermaine Hardemon of DeSoto, had been arrested the previous day for the same charges. The arrests stemmed from an incident that occurred in 2023
The incident unfolded on June 28, 2023, around 10:35 pm, when a Dallas Officer responded to a call reporting a disturbance and armed encounter on foot near Love Field Airport at a hotel on 11069 Composite Dr. Upon arrival, the officer discovered a 19-year-old woman on the 4th floor near the elevators, visibly injured with cuts on her right shoulder, a broken nail, and cuts on her legs.
The victim, who identified herself as the caller, reported that she was assaulted by Jermaine Hardemon and Kaila Thompson. She initially referred to Hardemon as "Tony" and Thompson as "Asia." The victim was transported to Dallas Medical Center by Dallas Fire Rescue (DFR) but later refused treatment.
According to the victim's statement at the hospital, the suspects picked her up at 6600 McKinney Ranch Pkwy in McKinney to go out for drinks and visit a club in Dallas. However, they never reached the club. The victim disclosed that the suspects, driving a gray 2004 Mercedes four-door sedan with Hardemon at the wheel and Thompson in the front passenger seat, instructed her to start working as a prostitute.
When the victim refused, Thompson physically assaulted her, while Hardemon encouraged the violence. The victim managed to escape, seeking refuge at the Best Western Hotel at the mentioned location, where she called the police.
Further investigation led to the identification of both suspects, confirmed by the victim through a photo lineup. Kaila Thompson, with a history of multiple arrests for prostitution, is now facing charges related to victimizing another individual. Her bond is set at $100,000, and as of January 20th, she remains incarcerated at the Dallas County Jail.
Jermaine Hardemon, arrested on January 1, 2024, at 10:10 am, is also charged with compelling prostitution and trafficking. His bond mirrors Thompson's at $100,000, and he is currently in jail.
