In the early hours of January 21, 2024, officers responded to a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of N. 20th and Colcord at 1:22 a.m. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a vehicle collision resulting in three people injured.
Emergency services swiftly attended to the scene, transporting two individuals to a local hospital, where they are expected to recover. Unfortunately, one passenger succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The next of kin has been notified.
The vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run fled the scene before officers could arrive. Law enforcement officials believe the suspect vehicle is a yellow or cream-colored late-model four-door sedan with a box style, potentially featuring a two-tone roof. The vehicle is noted for having chrome-colored rims and is expected to exhibit heavy front end and hood damage.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or those who were in the area at the time of the crash to contact the Waco Police Department at 254-750-7500. Additionally, individuals can provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 254-753-HELP(4357). Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the responsible party.
