DFW Airport Reports Cancellations

DFW International Airport is reporting approximately 150 departure cancellations this morning as airlines continue to deal with a winter storm stretching from New Mexico across the Midwest, Great Lakes and northeastern United States. DFW expects to see 20-25 departures per hour in the morning hours, and a fairly full schedule of over 60 departures an hour in the afternoon and evening hours. Passengers are advised to contact their airlines or check their flight status online, especially for flights in the morning hours today.

DFW Asset Management crews have continued to maintain the Airport’s runways, taxiways and roadways early this morning. The Airport has five of its seven runways open and available for aircraft activity, giving DFW plenty of runway capacity for a normal day’s schedule. Roadways at DFW are passable but still are showing patches of ice, so motorists are advised to use caution. The flyover bridges to Terminals D and E are open, but for Terminals A, B and C motorists are being detoured to alternate routes to reach those terminals. DFW enacted its Concessions Plan last night, keeping concessions outlets open until midnight tonight to accommodate the needs of about 500 stranded passengers.

DFW Customer Service personnel also cared for passengers stranded overnight, distributing cots and blankets, toiletry kits and other needed items to those requesting.
