Robert Blackwell, 37, has been found guilty on two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. The Tarrant County court sentenced Blackwell to 30 years in prison.
The incident took place on October 20, 2022, when Blackwell assaulted his girlfriend in front of her 6-year-old daughter and subsequently threatened them with a knife. Blackwell, who had a history of family violence and had previously been to prison, faced testimony from his earlier victim during the punishment phase of the trial.
The Fort Worth Police Department conducted the investigation, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kate Hinojosa and Sarah Sherman. The trial involved contributions from investigators Victor Espino-Nevarez, Darla Dowell, and Kristina Gonzalez, with victim coordination provided by Clara Salvatierra.
