Shooting Incident Leaves One Dead in Five Mile Creek

On January 23, 2024, at approximately 5:35 PM, officers responded to a shooting incident in the 3500 block of Fawn Valley Drive af Five Mile Creek. The preliminary investigation revealed that a confrontation between the suspect and 27-year-old Randy Mota-Bastida escalated, resulting in gunfire.

Mota-Bastida and another man were both shot during the altercation. Emergency services swiftly transported them to a local hospital, where Mota-Bastida succumbed to his injuries. The second victim is reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Jonathan Gutierrez, and an at-large warrant has been issued for his arrest. The incident is currently under investigation and will be documented under case number 012346-2024.

UPDATE: The victim who died is identified as Randy Mota-Bastidas.
