DFW Airport Operating at Normal Level

DFW International Airport is operating at normal levels today, with plenty of runway capacity available for air travel.

Airlines have reported 95 departure cancellations at DFW today, mostly caused by issues associated with a massive winter weather system affecting the upper Midwest and the northeastern United States.

Because of the continuing winter weather issues, DFW passengers are advised to contact their airlines or check their flight status online at www.dfwairport.com prior to coming to the Airport.

Roadways at DFW are generally in good shape with some patches of ice still visible.  Motorists are advised to use caution.

DFW is fully prepared for the influx of expected Super Bowl XLV visitors, many of whom are arriving today, tomorrow and Saturday in North Texas.  In addition to its normal load of about 850 departures per day, DFW Airport has also begun hosting 44 charter flights and 60 airline flight segments added specifically to handle the anticipated additional passenger load for the game.

Passengers flying into DFW today through Monday will be greeted by entertainers performing in the terminals, providing a Texas welcome for Super Bowl XLV.

For arriving and departing fans, DFW has also deployed hundreds of volunteer greeters, led by its 600-member force of DFW Airport Ambassadors and supplemented by about 250 volunteer greeters supplied by the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee.

For those passengers or local residents wishing to purchase Super Bowl gear, official NFL merchandise kiosks are in place throughout DFW, including all baggage claim areas inside the terminals.
