Irving woke up to over six inches of snow this morning. Through out the neighborhoods children could be seen playing in the snow with their parents. I personally got slammed in the face with a snow ball by my four year old. It seems every year we get a couple of icy, frigid days, but this winter storm is different. The powedery snow on the ground is simply a beautiful sight.
A winter storm warning is in effect until noon Friday for Dallas, Tarrant and counties to the north and east, with up to 6 inches of snow accumulation forecast.
The Irving School District was closed again friday, but the City offices where open at 9 a.m.
DFW Airport officials report that it has four runways open, treated and plowed. Airlines are reporting approximately 120 departure cancellations this morning.
Traffic has been flowing slowly as cautious drivers made their commute to work. If you don't have to drive, we recommend you stay at home. Snow can be decieving to drivers as there is still a layer of unseen ice underneath.
Be careful and please, have fun out in the snow!
