Midlothian Police Respond to Threat at High School

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, School Resource Officers from the Midlothian Police Department swiftly responded to a concerning situation at Midlothian High School. Reports indicated that a student had made threats against two teachers.

Upon arrival, officers took immediate action. One officer entered the classroom and detained the student, while another approached the juvenile's vehicle. It was during this approach that a firearm was observed in the front seat.

Following a thorough investigation, the 16-year-old student, whose name is being withheld due to their status as a juvenile, was taken into custody. The student faces charges including two counts of TERRORISTIC THREAT, a Class B Misdemeanor, and PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED, a 3rd Degree Felony.

The juvenile will be held at the Ellis County Juvenile Detention Center in Waxahachie as the legal process unfolds.

In a statement, the Midlothian Police Department emphasized their collaboration with Midlothian ISD in ensuring the safety of students and staff. They assured the community that incidents of this nature are taken very seriously and addressed promptly in accordance with the law.
