The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, March 17th, 2024 on S. Belt Line Rd at at Lakeview Drive.
At around 7:20 a.m., a Dodge Ram truck traveling south on Belt Line Road veered into the northbound lanes, crashing into a Jeep SUV. The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger from the Jeep was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The driver of the Dodge Ram has been identified as Clesiz Leiva, 24 years old. She sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Following her release from the hospital, she was arrested on charges of Intoxication Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Leiva is currently held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on a $100,000 bond for Intoxication Manslaughter and a $25,000 bond for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The identity of the deceased will be disclosed by the Dallas Medical Examiner's Office.
The investigation into this collision is ongoing.
