Update: Frisco Police Identify Suspect in Officer-Involved Shooting

Donavan Ray Favors

The Frisco Police Department has released new information regarding the recent officer-involved shooting that took place on March 16th, leading to the fatality of a suspect. Identified as 42-year-old Donavan Ray Favors of Dallas, the suspect was involved in the incident on the 5500 block of Lorraine Drive in Frisco.

At the request of the Frisco Police Department, the Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation.

Reports indicate that Frisco Police Officers were responding to a burglary when the suspect initiated gunfire towards the officers, prompting them to return fire.

Favors has a history of multiple arrests, according to recent findings. Records show that Favors has had run-ins with the law dating back many years. In September 2023, he was arrested in Collin County for Theft of Property valued between $150k and $300k. A year earlier, in September 2022, he faced charges in Dallas for Burglary of Vehicles. Further back, in 2021, he was apprehended by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office for Fraud Use/Possession of Stolen Identity. Additionally, Favors has faced charges related to DWI and unlawful possession of weapons.

Court documents reveal that in 2022, Favors was convicted in Dallas County of his third DWI offense and was sentenced to serve two years in prison. However, it remains unclear why he was out of prison before completing his full sentence.
