Man Dead, Suspect at Large After Ennis Shooting

Wanted: Bryant Carnell Whitehead

A shooting incident in Ennis has left one man dead and another on the run, according to authorities. The victim, a 55-year-old male from Rice, TX, lost his life following an altercation with the suspect.

Identified as Bryant Carnell Whitehead, a 49-year-old from Cedar Hill, TX, the suspect allegedly engaged in an argument with the victim outside a residence at 1212 Grace Circle in Ennis. Witnesses reported that Whitehead pulled out a handgun during the dispute and shot the victim.

The Ennis Police Department responded to the scene following a call at 2:04 AM this morning. Despite efforts by emergency personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Jackie Miller.

Whitehead fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, reportedly driving a black 2013 Chrysler 200 with Texas license plate TX LFJ7569. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Whitehead should be considered armed and dangerous. 

UPDATE: Whtiehead turned himself into the Ellis County Sheriff's Office on March 27, 2024, without incident.
