In the City of Irving, the mayor’s seat along with council Places 3 and 5 are up for election this year. Registered voters will cast their ballots during early voting from May 2-10 and on Election Day, May 14. Any resident who is a registered voter may vote for the mayor’s seat. Places 3 and 5 are single-member districts and only registered voters living in the respective districts may vote for these candidates. This year’s candidates are listed below in ballot order.
Mayor
Those vying for the mayoral seat are Joe Putnam, 69, an attorney who has resided in Irving for 42 years; Tom Spink, 72, an insurance agency owner who has resided in the city for 22 years; incumbent Herbert A. Gears, 48, a small business owner who has lived in Irving for 28 years; and Beth Van Duyne, 40, a communications professional who has lived in the city for 14 years.
Place 3
Voters in Place 3 will choose from Dennis Webb, 52, a firefighter who has resided in Irving for 28 years; Kensley Stewart, 50, an emergency room technician who has resided the city for 17 years; and David Gutierrez, 59, owner of a wood working business who has lived in Irving for 24 years.
Place 5
Candidates seeking election for the Place 5 seat are incumbent Rose Cannaday, 66, a mediator who has lived in Irving for 17 years; and Julie D. Grant, 70, a pet transport driver, who has resided in the city for 36 years.

CANDIDATOS PARA LAS ELECCIONES DE LA CIUDAD DE IRVING
En Irving este año el escaño del alcalde junto a los Lugares 3 y 5 del concejo estarán disponibles para las elecciones. Los votantes registrados seleccionarán su voto durante las votaciones adelantadas del 2 al 10 de mayo y durante el día de las elecciones, el 14 de mayo.
El puesto de alcalde es una posición “en general” y cualquier residente que sea un votante registrado puede votar para esta posición. Los Lugares 3 y 5 son de un distrito único, y sólo los votantes registrados que vivan en estos respectivos distritos pueden votar por estos candidatos.
