In Abilene, Texas, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, the Federal Bureau of Investigations alerted local police about a suspect wanted for homicide and kidnapping in Clovis, New Mexico. The suspect, Alek Isaiah Collins, 26, was believed to be in the area. Abilene police located a residence in North Abilene where Collins was reportedly staying. Early on Monday, May 6, narcotic agents conducted surveillance on the home, leading to Collins' arrest at 4:30 a.m. without any trouble.
A 10-month-old infant, who was taken by Collins, was found safe and placed in protective custody for evaluation by medical staff.
Collins, from Manvel, TX, is now in custody facing charges of Aggravated Robbery and Assault on a Peace Officer, with further charges pending. He also has a United States Marshal Hold for the New Mexico murders and kidnapping case.
