On Friday, May 10, 2024, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Killeen Police Officers were called to a traffic accident at the 12300 block of State Highway 195.
Upon arrival, officers found a semi-truck with a trailer and a black Nissan sedan at the scene.
Initial investigations revealed that the semi-truck was stopped at a yield sign at the intersection between northbound and southbound lanes, preparing to turn left onto State Highway 195. Its trailer blocked the northbound turn-lane and inside lanes. A black Nissan sedan traveling northbound collided with the back-left of the trailer.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 30-year-old Karelys Almeda Sola, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:49 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson.
The driver of the semi-truck did not report any injuries.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
