Drive-by Shooter Receives 25-Year Sentence for Retaliatory Attack on Elderly Victim

Daniel Loya

In a recent development, 23-year-old Daniel Loya has been found guilty of Aggravated Assault in Retaliation by a jury, as confirmed by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office. Loya has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his actions.

The incident in question occurred on February 2, 2023, when Loya was involved in a drive-by shooting targeting an elderly man who was a witness in a previously indicted case against him. The victim remained unharmed during this particular incident. However, this wasn't the first encounter between Loya and the 87-year-old man. A year prior to this incident, Loya had shot the same individual in the leg during another drive-by shooting in Haltom City, causing injury.

The prosecution of the case was led by Assistant District Attorneys Chris DeWitt and Max Appel, while the investigation was conducted by the Haltom City Police Department.
