On May 18, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Dallas Police responded to an assist call in the 2400 block of N. Washington Avenue in Old East Dallas. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Jalisa Lockett and 24-year-old Amaya Lockett, along with one man, shot at the location. Both women succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital and remains in stable condition.
Following preliminary investigations, authorities identified 25-year-old Saadiq Shabazz as the suspect in the case. Shabazz faces charges of Capital Murder and has been detained at the Dallas County Jail pending further legal proceedings. He is being held on a $3 million bond.
