Dallas Police Investigate Fatal Shooting That Left One Dead and a 12-year-old Boy Wounded

On May 19, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 400 block of Alcorn Avenue in Southeast Dallas. Officers arriving at the scene discovered Jose Garnados-Cerritos, 33, shot in a pickup truck. Garnados-Cerritos was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 12-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also shot and was transported to a local hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition. The driver of the pickup truck and a second juvenile passenger were not injured.

Further investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the 600 block of Jonelle Avenue. After the incident, the driver left the original scene and stopped in the 400 block of Alcorn Avenue.

There is currently no suspect description available. The investigation is ongoing and is documented under case number 078042-2024.
