Robbery Suspect Arrested After Multi-City Crime Spree

In a collaborative effort between Grapevine, Euless, and Fort Worth police departments, a robbery suspect believed to be connected to multiple robberies across north Texas has been apprehended.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, around 3:30 p.m., when officers responded to a robbery at the Cash Store on W. SH-114. According to reports, a man entered the store donning a white shirt, white hat, jeans, and a medical mask, claiming to be armed and demanding money. After seizing the cash, he forced the clerk into the bathroom before fleeing the scene unharmed.

Following the incident, law enforcement agencies were promptly alerted, noting similarities between this robbery and another in Hurst shortly before. Surveillance footage aided detectives from the Mid-Cities Drug Task Force in identifying the suspect's vehicle, eventually leading to a traffic stop in Grand Prairie. By 7:30 p.m., the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Charles Brownlee, was in custody, with evidence linking him to the crime.

Brownlee now faces charges for aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, with detectives linking him to robberies in five other north Texas cities within the same month.

The swift resolution of this case highlights the dedication of law enforcement, with Grapevine Police expressing gratitude for the support of their counterparts in Hurst, Euless, Fort Worth, and Arlington. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to safety and justice that authorities strive to uphold daily.
