On May 20, 2024, at approximately 4:31 PM, Irving Police Officers were dispatched to the Days Inn by Wyndham Motel, located on Highway 183 and Esters Rd, in response to a criminal trespassing call.
Upon arrival, officers encountered 25-year-old Jasmyn Kristine Hicks, who is listed as homeless. They discovered that she had damaged a window at the motel. Officers spoke with Hicks and motel employees to gather information about the incident.
After approximately 40 minutes, the officers decided to arrest Hicks. During the arrest attempt, Hicks assaulted a 56-year-old female officer and tried to take the officer's weapon from its holster. A struggle ensued, and four officers were required to subdue and wrestle her into custody.
Hicks was booked into the Irving City Jail. She faces charges of Criminal Trespass, Assault of a Public Servant, and Attempt to Take a Weapon from an Officer (Aggravated Assault).
